IDE
The workspace at /ide.
Welcome
Open /ide with nothing loaded and the welcome panel is the view: no file tab, no editor and Execute off until you choose. It offers start actions (the sample, a new file, a language, a local file, save as project): New file opens the language chooser with every available language; picking one opens that language's entry file, empty unless you already have work in that language; the rail's New file and the Files panel's + do the same while the welcome shows, and the Files panel says "nothing open yet" rather than listing the hidden sample. The welcome also lists your recent projects (your account's when signed in, this browser's otherwise) and the main shortcuts. Close it or pick anything to start; it stays away for the rest of the session and never appears over a project or an edited workspace: the New file prompt (rail icon or the tab strip's +), opening a file from your computer or saving as a project hides it by itself. "Open a file from your computer" keeps it until a file actually lands, so cancelling the picker leaves you where you were.
Unsaved workspaces, the recently viewed list and the edit keys of projects saved while signed out live in this browser, per account: signing in as someone else on the same browser shows that account's own state, never the previous person's. Theme and editor settings are per browser. Work you do signed out comes with you when you sign in: its files move into your account (an untouched workspace of yours gives way to it; an edited one is kept and the signed-out copy stays put).
Rail
- Projects: your saved projects and recently viewed ones.
- Files: the tree with folders and drag-and-drop. Right-click a file for open, new file here, rename or move, copy path, download and delete; a folder for new file, new folder inside, rename, collapse and delete; anywhere else in the panel for new file, new folder and opening a file from your computer. The entry file cannot be removed, and a viewer of a live project gets the read-only subset.
- New file: adds a file to the open workspace (the tab strip's + does the same). To switch to another language's workspace, click the language name in the status bar.
- Open, Download, Copy, Share, Reset act on the current workspace.
- GitHub: import a repository folder as a project, commit and push the open files (see Projects). Import of public repositories always works; connecting and pushing appear when the server has GitHub configured.
- Shortcuts, Settings (theme, font size, tab size, wrap, minimap, suggestions as you type, autosave), Docs, Feedback.
Editor bar
Project name and save state, the avatars of people in the room, Collaborate (owner: switch live editing on, create invite links, manage roles; members: see who is in and leave), Save (Ctrl+S), Fork on projects you don't own, Execute, theme switch, and your avatar: the account menu with Profile (display name and the list of signed-in sessions with browser, system, sign-in time and a log-out per session), Dashboard, My projects, API, Plans & payments, Contact and Logout. Running programs stop at their time limit; there is no stop button. Viewers of a live project see a one-line notice above the editor and cannot type.
