Flare Desktop
The same editor as the website, in a window on your computer. Code runs locally with the languages you have installed; nothing is sent anywhere to run it.

What to know
- It uses your toolchains. A language runs when its compiler or interpreter is on your
PATH(python3,node,gcc,go,java…). Running a language you do not have says so and names the program to install. - Your code, your machine. There is no sandbox in the desktop app: programs run as you, with your files and network, like running them from a terminal. Time and output limits still apply.
- The editor needs the internet once per session. The code editor component is loaded from a CDN; running code does not need a connection.
- Web features stay on the web. Accounts, saved projects, sharing, live collaboration, GitHub import and push, and language servers are at flare.koru.africa/ide. Drafts are kept on this computer per language.
- Linux: the AppImage needs no installation (
chmod +x, run); the.debinstalls withsudo apt install ./Flare_….deb.
